April 10th, 2012 - Shadows
This is one area that the WoW client at this point in the game’s history was still quite bad at: shadows. I will probably be supporting higher resolution shadow maps than the WoW tiles of 3.3.x did. Double the dimensions would probably look pretty decent. Ideally of course I’d like to support real projected shadows and not pre-baked ones. Performance of rendering will have to get quite a bit better before I do that though. As of now, however, I’m supporting baked shadows exactly as the WOTLK client did. Not great looking, but that’s what the converted data supported.
